Question on removing power steering pump.
I have a 96 2.8 **** for valves a4. Recentley did a little front end damage and got the new core support, radiator, condensor, and lamps all mounted. I just noticed my fan clutch pulley and my power steering pulley are bent. I got the belt off and ordered the fan clutch pulley. If i am replacing the power steering pulley should i go ahead and do the whole pump? Is there any tools or precautions i should take prior to taking that pulley and the pump out? Also I tried turning her over after it sat for about 2 and a half months. It definetly wants to go but could my radiator hoses not being connected yet have anything to do with the fact that it wont turn over? Any advice will be greatly appreciated
If the power steering pump works and does not leak, i would just put a new pulley on. As far as the car starting, does the engine turn over at all? Are you turning it over by hand or starter?
Yeah it starts to turn.. I tried re juicing the battery and all. I am turning it over by the ignition. Im thinking because the coolant resovoir is empty and the hoses are not connected it might have some kind of sensor. But who knows. hopefully someone on here will have an idea. thanks for your time.
did you start the engine or not.by the damage you have done it is very poss for the timing belt to be off or any of the cam shaft gears to be broken check that ,it is most important
So here is what i would try next. Remove the spark plugs and try to turn the engine by hand, wit a big breaker bar on the crank bolt. If it does not move, put a some oil down each plug hole , let it sit, (just like it has been), and grab that breaker bar and pull for all your worth. If the car has just been sitting outside, more than likely, with the temp changes, there was condensation in the block, and it froze it a little. Just work it until it moves freely. I would put a little oil down the holes anyway.
