Question on Tire Sizes
I have a newbie question re: tire sizes. I have a 2003 A4 with 17" rims. The current tire size is 235/45/ZR17. These tires are nearing the end of their useful life. Can I replace them with 245/65/17 tires?
The widest you can go is or 245/35-17 or 245/35-18 or 245/40-19 I had the same question as you a while back but nobody helped me with simple answers instead they told me to do something annoying like search with out a reply so I had to figure it out. LOL But its fine now.
if it helps, what the numbers mean is
235---the width of the tire (235 mm)
45----aspect ratio (the height of the tire...which is in this case 45 percent of the width)
and the R17----kind of self explanitory....R=radial, 17=17" rim
