quick B5 wheel offset question...
I need to get a quick answer for this if possible - what range of wheel offsets is generally OK to use on a B5 A4? I'm looking at 18" diameter wheels, with either 8 or 8.5 inch widths. I know that a +35 is what is recommended by Tire Rack and I also know that it can vary depending on spoke design, but is it OK to run, say, a +38 offset (I have no suspension or brake mods on the car - it's all stock).
Is a +38 or even a +40 OK to run or am I looking at trouble?
TIA...

RE: quick B5 wheel offset question...
Offset means distance from center of wheel to backside of the wheel - where it mounts to the hub. So if your told to use +35 and you use a +38 it will be 3mm further inside of your frame - just make sure you have 3mm on the inside of the wheel well and you aren't rubbing on the control arms. - I couldn't see 3mm causing that but you never know - also, using a "larger" offset will cause the tire to look like it is mounted further inside the fender. tires mounted flush with the fender look better. IMO
