Default Racetec FMIC is in!

I got the racetec fmic in. Not quite plug-n-play, but it's in. A Dremel should definitely be on the required tools list. The biggest pain was fitting the bumper, though I had to get creative getting the passenger side piping in. The core needs to be about 1/4" thinner. After some extensive bumper trimming, and loosening of fog light mounts, she's in.

Now for the good stuff. The car absolutely scoots. I'd say the car is as quick as my GTI. There's gobs of torque and I'm just a little concerned about the clutch. So, I'll have to be conscientious about hard launches.

Now, will everyone get off my back about getting a FMIC to go with the GIAC Hammer File!

The Hammer file is definitely worth it as it eliminates the surging associated with throttle body closing at high rpms and high boost. Plus, it feels a lot more powerful. It maximizes the use of the K04. I know it’s more money, but you’ve already done the hard part with the IC.

Here's markup of the pics that come with the install instructions. This is not my car, but I was able to mark where I had to cut (marked in yellow).

This is how it should have looked.

And here is the trimming that needs to be done to the vents.

Not much trimming @ all. I really want to p/u the racetec FMIC. I think i might have to now. So you say the install is pretty straight forward? i assumed a bit of cutting.

Sure, but you're gonna see it with the bumper on. No way I'm taking the bumper off again! [8D]

Here's a pic from the install instructions and mine looks just like it (though I didn't draw any red arrows on mine).

Sorry I didn't get pics tonight. But as I was a couple of miles from home and gave it some gas to get to my exit, I blew the DV hose off and the car don't go so good when that happens. Needless to say, my plans to take pics got derailed. I'll try to get some tomorrow in the daylight.

BTW, the hose that comes with the kit is aquarium hose and I think it gets soft when hot and caused it to slip off. I went out and found heater hose that should work much better.
