Hey guys,
When I start my car, I hear a faint rattling sound coming from under the hood but near the front tire. It sounds like vibrating metal. When I reach my destination, I don’t hear the sound anymore. If I turn the vehicle off, then on again, there is still no sound. It only seems to happen when it sits for a long period of time. Has anyone ever had this problem or know what it might be? Thanks in advance…C-Bing

RE: Rattle sound near tire
When I’m near the right side of the tire, it sounds like its coming from that side. When i walk to the left side, it sounds like that side. Again, i only hear the rattling sound when i start my car and once i drive for about 3mins it goes away. I went to the mall yesterday for about 20 minutes, when i came out and started my car i didn’t hear the sound. I think it only happens when its cold and sits for a long time.

My B5 always had a rattle like that on cold starts. You're gonna have to start it up and stick your head under the car to pinpoint it.

RE: Rattle sound near tire
It may BE the hood. Check if the hood rattles. There are 4 adjustable rubber bumpers on the front which if you turn them out a bit will quiet hood rattles.
