Hey guys
hoping someone can help me.
sometimes my car makes a rattling noise that sounds like its coming from underneath the car. sometimes its louder than other times and it happens no matter what gear my car is in.
does this sound familiar to anyone or should i just bring it in to get it checked out?

 

Have you looked to see if there is a broken exhaust bracket causing the exhaust to rattle?

 

underneath the car where? front back? at idle? when moving? car? year?

 

ya dude check your exhaust, and even blown cats make a rattling noise, at least mine did on my 96

 

More details please.. Most probably exhuast related though.

 

It amy be loose honeycoimb in the cats, i got the same thing happening to me when i engine brake, kinda sounds cools. take it to s hop or get a stethescope and with the engine running listen to the cats, if you hear it rumbling it definetly the cats.

 

yeh the sound is coming from the front i think.
its 2000 a4 1.8Tsedan
maybe its the exhaust then ifa few of u are saying that its just driving me crazy

i had the same thing happen to me. it was the cat that got blown out. go to a dealer and have them check it, its most likley your cats.

 

Mine ended up being a cracked exhaust bracket (replaced under warranty).
