that sounds like a fun idea but it would be so so so much easier if you started with a quattro car since everything is already back there. im guessing the T56 is alot bigger than the audi tranny so youd probably have to cut a bigger tunnel as well

also if your going to fab a rear end setup anyway why not just go with a 10 bolt like the ls1 was in front of in the first place, or even go with a ford 9 shortened to fit back there. but then youd have to find a set of rims that you can get in an audi bolt pattern and whatever bolt pattern you have in back, that is if you want the rims to match

I was thinking about the 10 bolt idea mainly b/c i have a few of them laying around, but the wheel thing threw me off. I figured if a S4 rear end can handle 400hp that it would be fine behind a mild LS1. the T56 really isnt that much bigger than the audi trans. when i start on the project the car will be nothing but a shell anyways so cutting/fabbing won't be that big of a deal.

Are you still planning on putting a LS1 in an A4? Never heard of such a swap on an audi but it's been done plenty of times with different cars.

even a quattro rear end that handles 500 awhp has the hpsplit up between the front and rear wheels. It might not handle all 500 hp just the rear diffalone.

im not gunna lie, i actually thought about that very same swap into my 99 a4 quattro. even took some mesurments. the biggest problem i found was with the waterpump and length of the engine. they mount the stock engines wayyyyyy forward. but man if you got it to work...holly smokes. And you can get as much horse power out of those engines as you want! people are really staring to catch on to all the gen III+ small block engines. i just saw a supercharged ls1 in an evo the other day on youtube. it was SICK!!

if you go ahead and do the swap, id love to see some pictures. good luck!

you could use a 700r4 matched to a curry 9 and just use wheels you like that match up... why would you try to match up audi wheels?
