Just joined the Audi world. Picked up a 2001 A4 2.8 quattro with just 22,000 miles on it. It's awesome to finally drive german engineering again. Use to drive a 83' porsche 944. With no mods on either car, I actually think the A4 is faster.
Anyway, my question is: What's the deal with the rear foglight. When do you use it?

 

when there is fog, and you are worried about people passing you in the left lane.. you turn that on so they know where the edge of your car is.

You use it when it's foggy... haha

It's so people can see YOU! I also use it when people are tailgating me... just to scare them. It's quite bright.
Only one side lights up, just so you know... you don't have a burnt out rear foglight bulb.

Congrats on the purchase. Sweet find... with such low milage. You should post some pictures!

Or when people are right up your *** tailing you then you turn it on and give them a bright red light in the eyes but I never do that... Although I am told it usually works.

If YOU have trouble seeing the rear lights of cars ahead of you (rain/wheelspray, fog, snow, dust.....), it's time to swithc it on .

It's pretty bright, so you should switch it off if cars behind you catches up with you, especially when dark.
