Rear shelf rattle
So i've done a lot with car audio, although i'm no pro, i'm pretty positive the issue i have is the bass vibrating my rear shelf. The vibration/distortion sound only occures w/ certain frequencies, and not neccesarially volume levels.
I've read a tutorial in changing the rear speakers, so i'm pretty solid in accessing/removing the rear shelf, but then next comes what to use to dampen the vibrations. I've had great results with dynamat, but it's costly, and in this application, i'm not quite sure where i should apply it.
has any one else had this issue, and how did you resolve it? I feel like that if the issue is the plasic rear shelf, i should apply the dynamat to the plasic, but I don't feel like i would get positive results in doing so, as most dynamat applications involve the metal surround of the speaker.
Any input on the topic would be greatly appreciated.
btw, the system is bose, thus, the rear shelf speakers are the bose 'open air' subs.

Yeah, an article in audi world had a guy say he bought a polyester pillow, and just stuffed it inbetween there. He had the rear shelf apart to change the speakes, but then stuffed it though the air vents in the trunk. He advised to stuff until when taping on the metal, you heard a dead "thud" sound. i think i'm gonna give this route a try, as polyester pillows are like $3 each, and he said he only used one. if anything, i'll just lose an hour of my day.
mine rattles too. i have a sub in the trunk. I've been meaning to check it out but havne't yet. I'll probably just take the rear deck off and stuff some towels in there or something.. screw dynamat.
