I have a 1996 Audi A4 (2.6 Quattro) with a rear Zender Concept spoiler.

I believe this is an after market spoiler - it came with the car when I bought it. The centre brake has never been connected so I recently tried to connect it. I connected it to the existing brake light on the passenger side - the actual brake light works ok however the rear brake light warning on the computer now does not go off when you press the brake pedal. Normally you start the engine, press the brake pedal and the light goes out - when the centre brake light is connected it doesn't go out. If I disconnect the brake light again it works fine.

I guess the car is too clever and thinks there is a problem somewhere.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to overcome this problem. I have asked my local garage and they don't know of a simple way of doing this.

 

If I understand you correctly, “burned out bulb� light comes on when the Zender brake light is connected? If so, most newer cars are built to sense any current changes and by connecting that extra brake light, you ending with more of the total current draw than allowed by the output…

The only way I was able to do it on my other car, is to use a relay: trigger from your brake light, power from any direct power source…
