Rear spring broken??
Well, I've spent several hours looking over the different posts and apparently no one else has ever had my problem. It figures!
My right rear coil spring is broken at the very bottom, and I think this is causing a fairly loud "buzz" from that area. I originally thought it might be a wheel bearing but after finding the spring and noticing wear on the strut housing, it seems that the buzz is from the rubbing of spring on strut tube which resonates through the body. Question is, has anyone had this problem and does anyone have any take-offs of rear springs for the '98 A-4 1.8T Quattro that they would like to sell. I've only had the car for about 8 months, 5 of which were winter, and here in Michigan, I don't particularly like to wrench on a car when it's freezing *** cold, even in the garage. I would appreciate any suggestions.

had it happen to me last year, my father kept driving the car with a badly damaged spring and ended up needing a new strut assembly and spring, plus he didnt talk to me about it and forked over almost 650 for the parts and labor
