So I just bought a 2002 Audi A4 3.0l 6MT quattro with sport package and premium pack today. I notice a rearend noise would that be the sport tires that are on it? They are Yokohama AVS ES100's; anyway does anyone else have this issue? It's mostly when going slow like 20-30km/h. Also what kind of motor oil do you recommend.

 

What kinda noise do your hear? is it like a drone noise or does it happen when you have it coasting in neutral?

 

well is the noise that your hearing a sound kinda like a whirlwind and its so loud that you can barely hear your music or yourself think. well if so then it would happen to be your rearend bearing because thats wat was wrong with mine and just got it fixed

 

rearend noise...maybe some gas-x would do the trick?

 

I don't know how to explain it. Its like wowo wo wo wo wo wo drone i guess. Goes faster as you go faster and slower and lower sound when going slow. Doesn't matter ifits ingear or in neutral and coasting.

 

Thats called tire drone, see if you can find a friend to swap wheels with.

 

The tires are quite good and the noise doesn't bother me that much but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I needed to address right away.

P.S. What is the recommended oil to use for this vehicle? brands/synthetic?

 

Anything full synthetic is best, amzoil, royal purple, castrol syntec, i used to run Mobil 1 synthetic but its no longer full synthetic in the states.
