How do i fin out if there was a recall on my car???

A fellow audi owner said he there was a recall on tie rods, and i need to get mine replaced so i rather have the dealer do it instead of shelling out of my own pocket.

I got a 01 a4q MT

 

Go to the dealer or call them and give them your VIN#. They will tell you if your car is in the list.
If you need the rod done, get it done now for safety reasons. If there is a recall on your car, the dealer or Audi will reimburse you as long as you have the receipt of the work done. So I was told by the customer service of Audi Corporation.

 

I don't believe it applies to our year , 2001.

 

the recall is for the 1999 A4:

Component: STEERING:LINKAGES:ROD:RELAY:CONNECTING
Potential Units Affected: 83000
Summary: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE TIE RODS OF THE STEERING ASSEMBLY ARE PROTECTED ON EACH SIDE BY A SEAL TO PREVENT MOISTURE AND DUST PARTICLES FROM ENTERING THE SWIVEL BEARING MECHANISM. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOME TIE ROD SEALS MAY NOT SEAL PROPERLY.
Consequence: IF MOISTURE AND/OR DUST PARTICLES ENTER THE SWIVEL BEARING MECHANISM, THE SWIVEL BEARING COULD WEAR OVER TIME DIMINISHING THE STEERING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TIE RODS.

call the dealer ship and give them your VIN and see if u have all the recalls and stuff checked
