i haven't heard about that e85/ 93 oct blend. I heard that e85 leaves dirt composites when it burns. I usually just run the 91 shell gas with some octane boost and I'm good. I would never want to put anything in my car that is bad for it. I like it too much to put crap in there.

one of the guys on the zine is some kind of analyst..he saysthose octane boosters actually only raise octane about 1 point in a full tank... he said the lucas is the only one strong enough to actually raise it a few points, i forget how many.... i think he was referring to all those off brand NOS octane boosters and what not.. u just gotta read the fine print and do the math to see what it actually does on a full tank of gas

I saw where someone said that this is great on 01+ engines. What about a 99.5? I have both 93 and e85, I just have to drive a little out of the city to get the e85.

well when the city you live in only has 91 octane at most gas stations an extra 1 octane actually does make a difference at least knock wise. I would use 100+ octane but i can't afford it for everyday use.

one guy on the zine did a e85 conversion for his track car.. he can get the power and octane from e85 at a much cheaper price!

Here's quoting a fuel systems engineer I was in the military with, so don't flame me. All octane does is stabilize the fuel and make it less combustible. This is desirable in high compression/boosted engines as it eliminates compression ignition before the spark(detonation). It's not dirtier, and unless your car has knock sensors to retard timing on low grade gas, it won't make you any faster. I had the "higher octane makes my motorcycle go faster" argument with him, and he beat me over the head with his engineering degree. In my bike, I run the lowest grade I can without detonation, as it has no knock sensors. I actually lose power with excessive octane. Aprilia calls for 93 octane in my bike, and I generally run 89.

I run 87 with no problems at all. occassionally i'll put in 89 or 93. in fact, when the tank gets low next time i'm putting93 or Sunoco 94 in it to see ifit really makes a difference. theonlycar i put 93 or 94 in all thetime ismy Malibub/c it has a 383 stroker with 10.5:1 compression. There is no knock sensor soit willknock on the cheaper gas. The one thing i don't cheap out on is the oil. since i had the Audi, i only put in mobile1 fully synthetic 5w30. i've heard a lot of people complain (but not on this forum since i joined) about their turbos breaking after 100k. but i have 155k and it still runs like new. anyone else have better luck running synthetic oil?

dont run e85 in your car. not only is your car not made for it you also get really bad gas millage using e85. you will be filling up more using e85 which doesnt save you any money at all. like people have said if audis didnt really need it why would they tell us to use it? they arent the oil company getting paid for us buying the gas.
