I read somewhere that the cars with the red T had a slightly different & improved turbo, over the cars with the silver T. I could be wrong, so don't quote me on this.

Actually, here's some proof, 3rd paragraph:

OK... how did we resurrect a post that's 17 months old???

the red-shadowed 't' means you have an 01 (or an 01.5, either one), and that you have 170HP instead of the old 150HP....there is no red 't', just the shaded one.

ORIGINAL: bentframe

the 20HP increase was from vvt (variable valve timing) and increased boost...it started in 01 i believe, not 01.5...and the 17" RS4s were an option starting in 00
So not all 2001's have 170HP? Only the ones with the red shadowed t? Damn, that sucks, my 2001 doesn't have the red-shadowed t, and all this time I thought I bought a car with 170HP and now it only has 150HP. :-(

The impression I got from this site, as well as others, was that all 2001s had the upgrade...

Oh yeah, my apologies for "grave digging" but this kinda pissed me off

My audi has no T so it's lighter and faster than all you with badges!

Who cares how many hp the car has stock. If you're not retarded you're going to get it chipped anyway and then the difference between 00 and 01.5 is minimal (I think 5 hp from APR, no idea about GIAC or NEUSPEED). Once youstart tuning, the stock engine tuning doesn't matter much (but the vvt is really nice).

No T at all means you have 190hp - 206tq . . . . . i think you get real leather and some sweet wood grain too... a moonroof too, oh ya and dual power seats, and pretty much every other option you could think of...
