agreed... hence ceramic bearings to cause less friction which makes less heat which wastes less energy which lets the turbine spin faster

The turbo lag must be terrible. By the time you set on the gas, and the increased flow hits the turbo, and the boost gets back to the engine, there must be a 2 second lag. Not to mention boost loss due to restriction of all that tubing.

I was just thinking that...located after the cat? F that. If you have a fmic too, you would have more turbo lag than throwing a t-66 on your 1.8t....lol

ACTUALLY BRRMAN I WAS TALKING ABOUT A CAR WITHOUT A TURBO ON IT ALREADY. NO SH*T IT WOULD BE POINTLESS IN A 1.8T. BUT I DONT HAVE A 1.8T I HAVE A 12V. WHICH, AS YOU MIGHT KNOW SINCE YOU SEEM TO KNOW EVERYTHING, ISN'T TURBO CHARGED. AND SINCE IT ISNT, I'D LIKE IT TO BE. SO I WAS JUST POSTING AN IDEA. IF THATS OK WITH YOU. I'LL GET YOUR APPROVAL NEXT TIME FIRST. F***!

It really surprises me how little is known about how engines and turbo systems work here.

Everyone was skeptical about rear mount turbos when they first came out. Mostly because of the lag everyone believed you would have. But the truth is they work well. I'm not sure about how much lag is actually experienced but it would depend on the engine, the exhaust, and the turbo. But from what I've heard the lag really isn't much. And people are able to run smaller turbos then it would normally require if it was on the exhaust manifold. This is because it is not in the middle of an extremely hot engine bay and getting HOT air right off the engine. And the piping going back up to the intake helps cool the air too.

If you don't believe these work go to some video sites and search for STS turbo.

They are mostly used on domestic vehicles though. Mostly trucks and V8 cars. But that doesn't mean they won't work well on a V6 A4. You would just need some custom tuning and enough room in the back for the turbo and piping. Using the domestic thing as an excuse is like saying Flowmaster exhaust is only good for domestics. And if you think that then you're pretty ignorant.

If you put a remote mount turbo on a four cylinder car, you would be a complete f*cking dumb*ss that deserves to be shot. It would have so much lag, unless you put a small gt16 series turbo, which would actually probably restrict your flow uptop.

And what is this bullshit of being able to run smaller turbos? They run smaller turbos to make it reliable. Not because they are as good as true custom turbo kits. Look at the power those cars are making and look at the power basic custom turbo kits make on the same cars, there is no comparison.

The reason that the lag is minimal, is because they put a turbo the size of a k04 on a 5.7 liter v8. That thing would be making full boost at idle!

This is because it is not in the middle of an extremely hot engine bay and getting HOT air right off the engine. And the piping going back up to the intake helps cool the air too.
How does the air going through the turbine side of the turbo being 100 degrees cooler allow for these kits to run smaller turbos? That has got to be the stupidest f*cking thing I have heard in a while. The compressor side of the turbo really doesn't get very hot, at least not on my garrett. When the car is running, I can hold my hand on it. So obviously almost none of the heat is transferred from the turbine housing to the compressor housing.

OMFG!......I'm sorry but some people just need to be taken out and have the sh*t beat out of them.
