Default Remote Start

I want a remote start, but never installed one. Should I attempt it or bring it in.

96 2.8QM, I NEVER leave the car in gear. I don't know if it's normal but I don't have a nuetral safety switch (I don't need to disengage clutch to start) so any of the systems should work.

Well, if you take it somewhere they probably won't install it on a manual. If you can find someone or a palce to do it I highly recommend taking it to them. Doing it yourself could just end up being a huge PITA.

yea I want a clean install, also. I've converted cars manual windows to power, locks, shaved doors, I never can make a nice looking wiring harness that's hidden enough for me.

I try a few places and see what they can do.

i can tell you from experience, auto-start on a stick SUCKS. i never leave in gear either, but i had to repair/replace the front bumper on my civic a couple times because of my remote start. i've turned many customers away from buying them from me for reasons like a.) we don't install them on manuals at my store. period. company policy b.) if your car starts and hits (god forbid) another person, big lawsuit.

i did enjoy being able to leave the car running and remove the key, that's about the only thing i really liked my remote start for though. just when i weighed the risk against the cost, i ended up regretting it. but good luck if that's what you really want!

ahh, now I see the reason shops won't do it know.

I just like the convenience of the thing, i may or may not do it. I probably will though.

i had a remote start on my Jeep Cherokee and it was F**king awsome for up on the mountian and for those days you wanted your car warm before you even got there. I've also thought about puttin one on my audi, but i don't think it's a good idea... i don't want my front end trashed from a mistake. But hey, it IS tight, and the ladies LOVE it... so weigh the costs.

btw, they come with high end alarms like audiovox aps996. like 350 $with a bunch of goodies
