reseting ECU
does anyone know exactly how long you have to unhook the battery to reset the ECU?? I've heard a few minutes up to three hours. my battery was unplugged for a few days. I did TBA and when I reconnected I still had my radio and the windows were still programmed to go auto. any ideas? the reason I ask is i was reseting my ecu everytime my car went into throttle cut (i think) by unhooking battery for 10 to 30 minutes. not sure if this really reset ecu or not...
When the battery is disconnected for a few seconds, you should have to reenter the security code for the radio. After reconnecting, turn the key part way, do not crank. You should hear the throttle body resetting. If you don't hear this, the battery should be disconnected for a longer period of time.
the TBA is not what he is talking about. I think he is asking how long before the ECU is reset.
The battery should be out for at least 15 mins.
A TBA will occur anytime you leave the key in the accessory position.
The TBA only affects throttle positioning, nothing more. Disconnecting your battery "should" have reset your windows settings, removing the auto up/down feature
