Default Resetting Service Light/ Oil Question

My A4 2.8 Quattro (01) just turned over 50k miles (bought it with 41k) and the service light came on. I plan on changing the oil and filter myself. Is there anything else I should do at 50k? I called the Audi service department and they said nothing else major needs to be done until 60K.

I've been reading the posts and everyone who recommends Mobile 1 says to go with 0W-40. Is that smart in the winter time (Ohio)? I've had a few people I spoke with say that a 0W-40 oil is too thick for the winter weather. Any comments will be appreciated.

Will my service indicator that comes on when I put the car in gear reset itself after I change the oil?

Thanks for your help!

I'm in ohio too and use M1 0W-40. It is the only M1 oil that Audi approves. As far as reseting the light, what year A4 do you have?
