Ribbed Belt and Timing Belt

2003 A4 1.8T QTip

Planningto do the 60K maintenance myself ... (now that the free services are over

)

Just noticed the dealership service manual about a Ribbed Belt replacement requirement @ 80K. And the Timing Belts due @ 105K.

What is a Ribbed Belt? Just thinking ahead ...

There are 2 belts in the front of the engine compartment.
They turn the alternator, A/C and the the power steering
pump.
