Road noise/excess tire wear on inside edge
On our way to the beach, we noticed an odd 'thrumming' sound and excess road noise.
Had a look, and the front tires are worn on the inside edges; they are cupped, and there are ragged bits of rubber. The tires are not worn down to the cord or anything that severe, but something is wearing them a lot. They'll be due for replacement before long in any case; maybe 1/8" of tread left.
Contacted the dealer, and had the local Goodyear garage check the tires. They felt they were safe to drive home, and we have an appointment at the dealer when we get home.
Other facts:
-Model A4 Avant AWD, less than 30 k on original rubber
-Front end aligned this spring; problem was noticed since then.
-Tires are rotated and x-ed every 5K miles; rears to the front, fronts x-ed to the rear.
-Did a forum search with no real results.
Ideas?
Thanks,
Moon
