i also use amsoil but i stick with mann filters

What do you Homey's think about Castrol Syntec 5w-40? That's what the dealer here uses.[8D]

its ok depending on where you live and what your weather is like.... I strongly reccomend using amsoil or mobil 1 i have used mobil 1 for over 70k miles no probs

I have never seen a no name brand that says "VW 502.00, 505.00, 505.01" on the back of the bottle.

i use royal purle's oil racing 11 (5w-30) there transmission fluid, and it works great i have ran royal purple in my 1.8t since i got it and when i had my head cover gasket replaced 6 months ago the tech that did it said the it was one of the cleanest lookin engines that he has seen on a 1.8t in a while.

Make sure the oil meets ACEA A3 standard.
