yeah my brother sold me the car but he called me one morning last summer and said he broke down. I went and had my AAA tow him to the dealer. the oil pump had died and they didnt replace it do to a recall the last time he was in so even though his warranty was up (due to high mileage) they replaced the engine for nothing. of course while they were in there they said that it would save him a lot in labor to have the clutch replaced and the timing belt (which needed anyway) so he got all three for like a grand. then two months later he made a million on the market and bought an 04 2.7 bi-turbo and a landrover discovery in the same week. when he told me he was going to trade in the a4 I asked him how much and he said we could work something out. so I've been paying him $200 a month for it and we settled on $10K. so i'm pretty sure its a recall (thats what he told me) but maybe only on 2001's?

 

no oil pump recall as far as I know

 

so maybe he was still covered under warranty??? not sure I'll have to look into it. I know the engine died because of the oil pump.

 

There is an 8 year unlimited mileage warranty on oil sludge for the 1.8ts. If the sludge blocks the screen by the oil filter you loose oil pressure. This is covered.

hey quick question
im getting my oil changed tomorrow morning and i was wondering what kind of oil i should get.
i have a 99 2.8 30v and im thinking full synthetic?
any replys would be nice
