RS4 grill blackout trim
I was feeling ambitious after putting on new brake pads, so I decided to finally blackout the trim on my RS4 grill.
Sanded with 400, 600, 1000, then 2 coats of adhesion promoter, 4 coats of acrylic lacquer. Lemme know what you think!
Before: (not actually my car, but you get the idea)

After: (pics are kinda crappy)

you did a great job, looks like good quality work...
but ... I just prefer the trim, it matches well w/ the rings, & is a nice accent especially on silver...
If it was a different color car, I think it would defenitely look better to me -
but again - good work !

Thanks dude. Yeah I hear ya...I was very conflicted about it for that same reason. The thing is, I didn't look exactly like the "before" picture I posted (foolishly didn't think to take any before pics of my own)...but the silver trim didn't really look like that good of a match to my paint. To me, it looked like a different shade and kinda cheap. I dunno, are all the RS4 grills the same? I got mine from Clairparts.
I still have the chrome on my stock grill, I could always throw that on to see if I like it better. The chrome would probably tie in better overall with the chrome trim on my windows, but when looking only at the front, I think the black trim makes the grill look bigger and meaner...so I'm sticking with it for now
