Stumped by noise, What would cause rumble sound in 3rd, 4th and 5th gears at about 2,800 to 3,200 RPM's? Everytime accelerating at these rpms I heare this, a loud base like rumble. Will extra boost do this from my chip?

 

New to turbos. Will a turbo do this?

 

Shouldnt be the turbo... Could be a wheel bearing, or if you have high performance/summer tires they can make road noise once you get up to speed.

 

no tires are quiet and new, definately sounds like engine at those rpms most noticeable when climbing a hill!

 

what year? What tires?

 

I can't remember good year makes them type R something. It's 03" tire size 235 45 r17 plain tire no speed rating

 

Thats def important, thats when the engine is under the most stress, and under acceleration like you said in your other thread.

 

Could be a number of things. Does anything like steering wheel shake when this happens, or only the noise?

 

how long ago did you add the chip?
it may be that it's still in the transition period where the car is adjusting to your new chip....

 

i don't know what it is? very stressed new car new chip and problems already!

I need to put it up on ramps and take a look. I have no time to do this very busy. 90% of the time usually something simple!
