Default RUST PROBLEM ON 2005

Ok, love my A4 - 3.2 L pretty much loaded out with all the options.

Everything is great, except for rust that is appearing between the wheel and the brake disc.

Any suggestions on either getting rid of this rust or perhaps some sort of after market purchase. I noticed that many BMW, Mercedes, (I live in Germany btw) etc seem to have some sort of non rust or rust proof ring assembly that fits in this position. At some point I'll get an aftermarket brake system. But in the mean time, any suggestions on this rust issue? I can't be the only one with this issue.

Do some models/option packages utilize some sort of forging or piece that sits on top of the cast iron? or is used instead of the cast iron?

How hard is it to paint?
