I have a 2001B5 1.8t sport and was thinking of getting an S4 front bumper. However, after talking with the dealership they said that the front bumper struts and fog lights have different parts numbers and would probably have to be changed do do this conversion.

I searched through our database hear and did not find a definite answer. I saw that 1.8t guys were doing this mod but no info on the process, or necessary changes needed to do it.

So can an B5 S4 front bumper bolt directly on to a B5 A4? And if not what are the necessary steps needed to do so?

I've never read that the bumper struts need to be changed (wouldn't make much sense from Audi's standpoint to have two different part designs for the same chassis to accomplish the same thing - holding the bumper on). However, the foglights and grilles are different. You can either forego the fogs or source a set of S4 fogs and grilles, but your OEM fogs/grilles are too large for the S4 bumper slots.

No kidding? I wouldn't have guessed that. Glad you knew it at least I'd have hated to steer him wrong.
