safe mode
I left my car running and had my defroster on the lowest setting...10 mins later I came back and my defrost was on full blast. I tried turning it down but it wouldn't work so I turned it off and it automatically went to full blast and I couldn't turn it down yet again. I then noticed that where my mileage was (under the trip clock) said SAFE. My car seemed to run fine but why did that happen?! Anyone have that prob?
If it says SAFE in your instrument panel, the immobilizer module is not recognizing the key anymore. It means the key isn't matched to the car anymore. It may start to not let you start the car anymore, and more lights may come on on the dash, or it may put the car in 'limp' mode. Have you replaced your instrument cluster recently? Or taken it out and put it back in? If that's the case, you may also have a loose connection....
As for your blower motor....all my audi's as they warm up and are set to DEF or HEAT, the fan automatically increases on its own as the car warms up...I've had mine NOT respond to turning it down before as well, but with persistence (pushing the minus button), it generally starts responding, but it doesn't happen that often; or I change the setting to VENT or something else...
