Default Satelite Radio

My car is listed in my sig with a regular audi symphony radio. What do I have to do to get XM installed in the "SAT" button? And how much do you think it would cost? Thanks

You need to buy the XM module that goes in your trunk, the car is pre-wired so all you have to do is find the harness plug it into the module and mount it. Remove the lower A-pillar on the passenger's side and locate the pink connector, move it over to the connector thats not used and it should work.
Then call XM with the serial number thats on the side of the module to activate the service.

The module goes for about $500 at the dealer.

I just read something recently about a company that is making a tuner/interface device for the Audi... let me see if I can find it.

Sorry, so far I'm not having any luck finding it. I'll keep looking, might be in one of my Trade mags at work.

I have seen various interface modules but none with the tuner included.

500 sounds wayy steep especially when you could just buy a portable car unit for 40. Is it possible to have an audio shop install it?

Unless you wire it directly, or use a cassette adapterthe portables tend to sound crappy and are prone to interferance because of other channels on thesame frequency used by the FM modulator. Even bigger problem when you travel becausea clearfrequency in one area maynot beclear elsewhere forcing you tofind a newfrequency on the go.Going with the module is the best route for reception and a clean look on the inside. The adhesive and other dash mounts can be a pita when they decide not to stay in place. Plus you won't have to put the additional antenna on the roof 'cause you've already got one.
