Default Satelite Radio

Hey all,

New to this forum but found some great information. I bought an A3 2.0 DSG Premium recently (Richmond, BC, Canada) and have spoken to the local Audi dealership about the Satellite Radio. I'm finding it a bit much at $800 to have it enabled! Anyone else got any ideas on where and how to go about getting sorted or other alternatives.

I do have the Delphi RoadyXT with car kit but hate all the cables everywhere and the antenna on the outside of the car.

Any thoughts would be great!

Thanks in advance.

I installed mine myself for $98 including tax... brand new unit from the Audi dealer mind u. Goto the dealer and order the XM unit. Unfortuantly, the sirius unit is still $400.

Thanks for the answers.

Is the installation easy to do and does everything connect through the speakers.

I recently had a new BMW 323i and found the audio in jack in the armrest to be most useful, but the pull of getting back into the A3 was too much! If only Audi would follow suit!

The install is easy. Follow the directions here: http://mcdonst1.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!1pt6HJLQ8RUTj7GTLFugwSCA!178.entry
Note that everything will work without doing the VAG-COM changes, but VAG-COM will give errors until the changes are made. Not a big deal, but the dealer will see it and want to charge you an arm for the fix. Note the comments at the bottom of this page. The first one listed is mine where I had VAG-COM errors even after making the changes the page said to. My comment gives additional instructions on how to change the programming to clear the other errors.

Thanks Bear Trap, those instructions will come in very handy.

Anyone on here know where you can order the tuner in Canada? The dealer is talking $650 CDN before taxes.

Thanks

Picked up an XM unit for $95, followed these instructions: http://mcdonst1.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!1pt6HJLQ8RUTj7GTLFugwSCA!178.entry
Time to install including call to XM to activate... 11 minutes. How the knhuck does the dealer get off charging 1.4 hrs labor for this?
