Default screwed by mechanic on timing belt

I manage a car dealership, and had sent my recently purchased a4 off to a mechanic i had used for many different things on many differant typse of cars. He assured me it would be done the next day. Now, two weeks later, i have a useless audi who's entire front end is taken apart, a bucket of miscellaneous bolts, and all sorts of parts in my trunk. No other mechanic will touch it because they were not the one who took it apart. It almost makes me throw up that my new(to me) audi, is seemingly totally useless now. The mechanic will not return my calls, and the water pump that i had already paid for him to order is no where to be found. I guess my only option is to have it towed to either the dealer, or to call around and try a few more audi specialty shops and see if they will bail me out. If anyone in the jacksonville florida area wants to help out please let me know....

dont u know where his place of business is at? go down there and tell him you'll take legal action against him if he doesn't take care of this. call a lawyer beforehand and learn exactly what can be done about it first

Well, i did. He has since moved, and is now about to move to mississippi, my car was supposed to be the last one he was fixing before he left(of course i did not know this before i trusted him with my audi). I should also note that the water pump i payed him for is no where to be found, and he broke my fan clutch and my serpintine belt idler pulley(300 bucks in parts) that i have already paid to replace.I also had to pay to have my car towed from his shop back to my car lot, which is where it sits now, with the front bumper laying in the grass, and a trunk full of parts. On a side note, can these cars be towed on a car dolly or will it mess up the quattro system? I had it flatbedded before as i was concerned about that, but dont really want to spend the money to have it flat bedded a whole 3 blocks. This is an absolute nightmear........

What did the lawyers say about it? I would do that first. That sucks that that happened. I would be pissed!!! But Then again, I do all my own work just for that reason.

Lesson learned the hard way....I'm very sorry to hear this...

I bet he was doing the job for like $500. buckswhen it's a $1,200 dollar job.

Sounds like this guy doesn't haveanything to looseif he up and left ....or ran!

Instead of spending more moneytring to track this dead beat down and try to get moneyI'd say cut your losses and get it fixed...atleast you got the car back!

If I was down your way I would helppick up the peices.

He was actually going to do the job for me for 100 bucks plus parts. It was originally done as more of a favor to me than anything because i had brought him alot of consistant business through the car dealership, and was a way of showing mutual respect and thanks. However, what was once done as a thanks and out of mutual respect quickly turned into my worst nightmear. So now, instead of helping me, he has totally fucked me. There is an audi specialist about 2 blocks awaythat originally didn't want to touch itbecause it was already torn apart etc, i think i'm goign to go down there again tomorrow and beg them to fix it, and then be prepared to bend over and grab my ankles when i get the bill. There goes the hope of driving this thing for 3-6 months and selling it and making money off it....As it looks i'll probably be borrowing money frommy bossto fix it and then selling the car to pay him back, hopefully with enough left over to buy another one or a differant german sport sedan.....I should have yanked the car from him when he told me that he couldn't get bolts out and was going to have to cut a couple of things off with a torch, that definately didn't sit right with me but he had worked on bmw's, lexus's, mercedes etc before and had rebuilt engines for many of them, so for some odd reason i trusted him..

At this point i simply want my water pump that i have already paid for, even if for some reason he is willing to fix my car i will not let him, he is not touching my car again with a 10ft pole.
