Hi. New to the forum with my '05 Avant 1.8.
Does anyone know how to disable the seat belt alarm? Its driving me nuts! Its well buried behind the instruments... is there a way to get the instrument cluster out without taking the top of the dash off? Or another way of disarming it?
I always wear my seatbelt when I drive... I just hate being 'scolded' for not putting it on 3 seconds after I start the car.
Thanks!

The seat belt noise (chime) is built into the instrument cluster. You would have to remove the cluster and disasemble it. The speaker is soldered onto the board with a housing around it. It would require you to desolder the board. I suppose you could wiggle the speaker back and forth until it snapped off though. Is it really that big of a deal? You will also loose ALL noises. Ie: no more low gas beep, no headlight on beep, no noises at all.
RE: Seat Belt Alarm Disarm?
Well, that's the bad news I was hoping not to hear. My 99 Volvo T5 had a plug-in flasher-box type setup that you could fairly easily yank out and I thought maybe the Audi was the same arrangement. Is the seatbelt lock wired to detect the belt connection? It would seem so since it shuts off when you insert the buckle.

thats wered when i start my car the seat belt light flashes 3 or 4 times then disapears also it has no noise. all other chimes are still there gas, headlight .
RE: Seat Belt Alarm Disarm?
That would help...but can the instrument cluster be removed without taking the upper dash off? I don't think I want to spend 4 hours taking my dash apart to chase this thing down!

not sure how to do it on a B6. I read you have to remove the steering wheel to get to two screws to remove the dash piece. So yeah it's going to be a pain in the ****.
RE: Seat Belt Alarm Disarm?
I know this is an old post, but was wonder if anyone figured out how to disable it. I have a 2005 A4 and agree that the chime is absolutely annoying (and doesn't give up!). I wear my seatbelt too, but sometimes while just sitting I dont' have it on and there in lies the problem. I disconnected the wire(s) under the seat that go to the seat belt latch, it did the trick but then the airbag light is on all the time. I asked the dealer and they had no clue and seemed perplexed that I would even have such a request. My 2003 Allroad doesn't have a seatbelt chime at all (silence is golden). Oh well...
