selling my car
hey all I've decided that it is time for me to let go of my first car and move on. unfortunately i will not be able to afford another Audi at this time, but i hope to come back as soon as my financial standing lets me. As some of you might know i have a 96 2.8 Q automatic. It was a great first car, but too many things went wrong with it in the time that i have had it. I was wondering how much i should expect on a trade in or private party sale? it has 132xxx on the odo, leather, regular wheels with brand new tires, front brakes were put in less than 5k miles ago, brand new wheel bearings, new cv boot on driver side axle, new transmission at 112k, the outside seems to be fine aside from a small rust spot growing in the front passenger side fender lip, a couple of door dings in the rear quarter panels, interior is in immaculate condition, and I have an aftermarket mp3 player head unit in there.(do you recommend me reinstalling the stock unit?) thanks for all the help everyone you have been nothing but great in here, I hope the next car forums i am in are as informative and great as you have been.
hey lazerviking ill sell you my trunk for $3,750...deal?
the car runs in immaculate condition why would i part it out? aside from the fact i could probably make half the cars value from selling the tranny seperate.

you would prob get about 3 grand offered for trade in at a dealership, if you fought with them and were close to making a deal they would prob bump it up to about 4 grand but no more than that.
private party it could be sold for about 5 grand.

Try www.kbb.com for a rough idea of what its worth in your area. Thats what you customers are going to look at.
yeh i checked out kbb and it is roughly 5300 private party and 4350 for trade in value. if i took a print out of the trade in value you think the dealer would match that price? i guess i would be alright with 4350 for the car, although i've dumped over 14k in purchasing the car and the transmission and various other things done to it.
If you bring in a printout of KBB they will just tell you that KBB #'s are inflated.
