Baby steps. I'll stick with what I know for now, or risk confusing n00bs even more.

I still haven't even gotten mine chipped after a month of ownership.
I think there are probably people on here that would be better suited to handle the FAQ part of the post.

What about MTM?
As I mentioned in a different forum:

I have officially been part of the Audi enthusiast crowd for 4 weeks and 2 days, as I just picked up a new A4 myself - so it does not surprise me that I haven't heard of MTM.

I was just trying to offer a place to send the new members so that they can do some of the research on their own, rather than having to hunt through page after page of links and info.
Simply a starting point when they ask the inevitable question......

I have changed the title to address the missing companies: Sportec, OC.T, and MTM.
If I get around to updating the links with their info, I will change the title back.

How about some objective evaluations/comments? Not who's better, but just additional real-world info. I'll start.

GIAC

These comments are for a 2001 AWM engine.

Standard K03 File: Excellent! Strong and smooth. No surging. Works with N75C (stock), N75H (ECS Race), and N75J.

Standard K04 5bar file (FX): Strong and smooth until about 5000 rpm. At ~5000 rpm, there is severe surging due to throttle body closing due to high load, fueling, and other factors. This is the case for a 2001 AWM engine and may not apply to other engines.

Updated K04 Hammer File: Excellent! Strong and smooth throughout the rpm range. Maximizes the benefit of a K04. However, requires 380cc injectors, a TT225 MAF, a FMIC, and a freer flowing exhaust. Use stock N75C!

For you A4 B6-ers out there:

•Stock is 170 hp and 166 ft-lbs torque.
•APR claims with 91 octane, stage 1 will get you 209 total hp, 236 ft-lbs total torque (as seen @ APR & ECS tuning).
APR claims with 93 octane, stage 1 will get you 215 total hp, 245 ft-lbs total torque (as seen @ APR & ECS tuning).
•REVO claims with 93 octane, stage 1 will get you 205 total hp, 240 ft-lbs total torque (as seen @ www.revotechnik.com, octane confirmed by REVO via email).
•GIAC claims with ? octane, stage 1 will get you 30-38 additional hp, 200-208 total hp, and 55-60 additional ft-lbs torque, 221-226 ft-lbs total torque (as seen @ GIAC).

It seems like the APR is the way to go but my understanding is most here favor REVO in the B6.

And for the B7's, here's the 2 Dyno charts that I could find for the moment. The REVO chart is listed as "98 RON" for the impressive numbers you see on the graph, fyi.
I contacted REVO directly and I was given the following numbers:

93+ Octane = 250HP/270lb-ft
91+ Octane = 245HP/260-265lb-ft

APR's numbers are listed as:

93+ Octane = 241HP/292lb-ft
91+ Octane = 232HP/273lb-ft

NeuSpeed Claims 257HP/308lb-ft on their web page, but no Octane rating is given and based on other Mfr's numbers - it's safe to assume those are the numbers for 98 or 100.
No Dyno graph to post yet.

GIAC simply states 18-50HP/50-80ft-lbs for the B7, but does not give Octane ratings or specifics for the "Sport Chip" vs. the "X Chip" on their page.
No Dyno graph to post yet.
