Default shaky brakes (sometimes)

Hello...i have a 2006 A4 2.0 T with 1800 miles...smooth and powerful drive... i really enjoy driving it...

I just noticed that if I'm going 45 mph or more, and come to a fairly quick stop (like stopping for a red light), SOMETIMES when i apply the brakes GENTLY, i feel a slight vibration/shaking in the steering wheel right before I come to a full stop ... if i press on the brakes with "normal" firmness (there is no skidding) then there is no vibration in the steering wheel.

Could the rotors be warped already? Or is it just the brakes/abs kicking in? There is no squeaking or sound from the brakes.

Can you warp rotors by washing your car after a long drive? Or driving through a puddle during a long drive? I have been driving the car gently because I have been breaking in the engine, so i really haven't been braking hard...

Thanks...

Mine will do that occasionally, and I asked about it at the dealership during the test drive. He told me it's not the brakess, but the engine gearing down to help you slow down, so you don't use up your brakes as fast.

Sounds like warped rotors to me, id imagine that if your brakes were really hot and they good cooled down by water fast could do some damage but its usually from being on them for a longer period of time and getting them really hot

Thanks Karl Marx...

Yeah, I just took my A4 out for a spin...about 30 mins on streets and the freeway...braking at high speeds (70 mph+) and lower speeds...gradual stops...hard stops...gentle stops...and i didn't feel the shakiness in the brakes...smooth stops

Hmmm...not sure what's going on...i read somewhere that you have to drive the car and heat up the brakes/rotors to shed/wipe off debris from the brakes/rotors and smooth or even them out...I usually drive my A4 everyother day or every 2 days, so maybe "stuff" cools/builds up on the brakes/rotors...

At 1860 miles on my 2006 A4, i'm still enjoying the novelty of the POWER of the 2.0 T.

Any other comments would be appreciated...thanks!

sounds like i might have "fixed" the situation by my drive yesterday...someone suggested the problem may be mild pad deposits / uneven seasoning of the rotors...a matter of "bedding in" the brakes...
