Default Shift from 1st to 2nd question

I know I ask a lot, but guys I can tell you how much I appreciate your help. I unfortunately am used to carburated V8's that if I need to I can stand in the engine compartment, so I'm in a whole new world. I'm a little concerned about how hard the shift is in my 99 A4 from 1st to second. All other upshifts and all downshifts are smooth however, when I make a high rpm shift from 1st to 2nd there's a slight to moderate jolt. It reminds me of having a loose U-joint on a driveshaft. Maybe this is normal in this car. I've let several people drive it to make sure I wasn't the problem but everyone gets the same results. I just wanted to know what y'all thought. Thanks!

Perhaps your front engine mount (snub mount) is deteriorated. Replacing that often takes the jolt out of shifts.

Yea, I've a read a little about that and I see APR has an upgraded one for $50. I'm sure it's worth the money it's just finding the time to install (not an easy job from what I understand), but I'm sure it'll get done soon enough.

I wouln't say it is difficult. It's just time consuming really. Just set aside an afternoon and a 12 pack and you'll do fine.
