Default shocks and springs

If i just got lowering spring for my 2.8l a4, would the shocks be ok. or would they
be trashed in a matter of months?

depends on the type of shocks you have now. if it's non sport it'll be shot fast. sport shocks would last a little longer though. just get aftermarket shocks and get it done right the first time.

i'm not too familiar with that year but from what i noticed, H&R / Bilstein is a good combo for it. Talk to Mike at PureMS.com. He's pretty straight forward about suspension stuff.

Bilstein is deff the most popular struts. As for springs, their are a lot of good brands.
