Default shocks and springs vs. coilovers

okay.. i have read lots of threads now but still want to know a bit more.

I am eventually getting some 18inchers on my car and i wanted to know if getting shocks and springs would be fine instead of coilovers.. because coilovers are more. If im wrong about this, please explain what I should do for the best price. And if possible, find me a link for what you think the best price and idea is. Thanks guys. I'm doin the Clear Corners mod today, and am just getting hyped on doing my other mods. And the lowering is definitely 1 of them. You guys are a great help.

Coilovers are basically the shocks/struts with springs.. the only difference i think is that they are ride height ajustable.

yeah coilovers are better but of course more costly. If you live in a snowy area they are nice because you can raise your height.

EDIT: can i lower my car even without the 18's.. cus ill buy these.. then save up for new wheels.

plenty of normal struts are dampening adjustable...and plenty of coilovers are not dapening adjustable.

You use supplied wrenches to jack up the car. common practice is to leave the suspension once you've set it initially. It can be tough to adjust coilovers, especially after theyve been on the car for a while. You have to clean the suspension of all the grime becuase it is impossible to move the perches unless they are spic-n-span.

yes, you can put coilovers/shocks & springs on with stock wheels.

You could also get some grooved shocks from AWE-Tuning with H&R Race/Sport Springs. Have adjustable height grooves and not too spendy
