Short Shifter Worth the Time and Money? Is the Installation a hassle?

I wouldn't do it on a stock A4. The flywheel feels as if its made of lead and the engines revs take their sweet time falling off. It's like that on every Audi i've driven. Compared to my MR2 and BMW its a very noticeable diffrence in just how much you have to slow down your shifts in the Audi. To drive smoothly without wearin the synchros and clutch you'll either find yourself pushin clutch in waiting a second shifting into gear then waitin a sec and lettin clutch up. I find even with the stock shifter 1-2 has to be a very slow deliberate shift,2-3 is slow,3-4 feels like 1-2 on the MR2 or bmw and 4-5 is fine. I never understood the need for a short shifter on cars that don't need them, why speed something up that needs to be slowed down such as the shifting. When driving stick under normal conditions the passengers in your car shouldn't feel the shifts and they should be smooth. Same on the road course, sudden, jerky shifts upset the cars balance. Watch a profesional race on youtube with an inside cam of the car. The shifter isn't shorter then stock and if anything its prob longer. When entering or exiting corners the driver will shift slow, smooth and deliberate. If you have a Light weight flywheel i could def understand the need for a short shifter, just not for normal driving on a stock car. If the shifter feels slopy just change the bushings. Ask yourself whats your reason for the short shifter before you do it.

Literally every single person I know who has gotten a short shifter, online and in person on their a4, has loved it.. even the cheap ebay ones, to the $150 dollar kits. I've never heard of one person who'd rather have their stock shifter after installing a short shifter. Now here's a very simple question for you...

Anyone with a short shifter want to say something?
He has some good points, but they aren't exactly swaying me to not buy one. I figure it may take a little adapting to, but should be a pretty easy one to ensure a smooth ride when not trying to haul ***.

The only thing I noticed after installing mine was that ofcourse the throw was way shorter and the whole thing feels much more firm now. the old one slops around while this one is solid.
I just installed mine 4 days ago and absolutly reccomend it, the whole thing feels much tighter and shift time is greatly reduced. That coupled with the k&n filter i put in a month ago really makes the driving expierence much more fun.
