Is it quattro? 2.8, or 1.8T? The 2.8's seem to go for a bit more $$$ then the 1.8T, and the same goes for awd. If the timing belt hasn't been changed it's something you should plan on doing soon. gl

It is a 1.8T AWD. Thanks for all your great feedback. I hope there are maintence records for the vehicle, if not, I will bring it to the Audi shop for a "check up".

As far as track records go, the Lexus will be more reliable than the Audi given they share an equal maintenance record. For some, the love of Audi out weighs the higher maintenance cost. Plus its AWD!!!

Go buy a Honda, unless your Husband is mechanically inclined and does his own repairs.

These cars are big$$ to keep running unless you do it yourself.

Audi is a great car but if you're going for a 2000 1.8t you are going to absolutely have to make sure ull be able to have some money set aside for certain things that can go wrong---and they can get quite expensive. Has the timing belt been changed? If not youre going to have to do that right away since its at 100k miles. That's going to cost you between $675.00-$1000.00 USD unless you are able to do work on cars. You also got to realize all maintenance and parts is going to be much high than would a domestic car. It's a turbo engine so youre going to have to use synthetic oil which costs more and use premium gasoline. If none of this stuff is a problem for you then I say go for it..you'll love the car. Just be careful because its going to be a little more high maintenance.

Just an update, we bought a car.

I would like to thank everyone on your honest opinions. We actually decided against the A4.

I first saw this new car, researched it and love it, then the hubby said NO because he wanted the Lexus (orignally) the jeep then Audi and only saw pictures of the car I was talking about...when we went to look at the A4 tonight we saw the original car I was researching (same dealer and everything) it was a total fluke and we ended up walking out with a 2003 Saab 9-5. I am happy with our purchase.

Thanks again for your help!
