should i get it?
Im looking into getting a audi A4 1.8t with 90k miles. the car cosmetically is pretty bad but its cheap and its a 2001 model. the only problem is that the transmission is slipping the owner cliams. i dont know too much about audi transmissions so how much would it cost to fix and is it a major damage to the engine. just to let you know its a automatic with tiptronic. Also is there any problems or recalls i should worry about for a 2001 model.
yea the car is around 7k and the cosmetic is only on the front and rear bumpers like bad parking i can deal wit it cuz ill probably order a rs4 kit or sumthin. but how mucha m i looking at and do i have to replace the whole transmission if its slipping?
save ur money, look for an older one better shape, ur gonna save money and use the money u save from buying a cheaper car for maintince later on.
also, whenever you buy a 99-01, make sure the timing belt is chaged! thats a 5k expense right off the bat

so your saying i should get a older model but all of them have high mileage which i dont want for the same price. This is a steal but if the tranny is gonna be a big exspensive problem to fix just becuase its slipping then ill wait.
forget about the car mentioned above!...why buy someone elses problem...This car sounds like you will pay 7k for it and another 5k for its problems....if you buy the car you will end up having to at least have the front and rear bumpers resprayed (colormatched), a new junk yard transmission (who knows what kind of life it lead before it ended up in your car), and you will probably need to replece your timing belt... for the 12k gestimated that you will have to cough up, you could probably buy an immaculate A4...oh, and the only reason i even bought my audi was because of Quattro...if you buy an audi make these three things your top priority (your audi should have no less than two of the three listed!) QUATTRO/5SPD/TURBO
keep looking man, it took me a few months to find my car...but it was more than worth the wait...don't buy another mans problems!

thnx for all the helpful replies. i already dropped the thought of that car and ive moved on. it will take me a long time to find another one becuase after reading the forum for a couple days on what i should look for my standards are kinda high. I already read all the mods i can do with a 1.8t and im very anxious to get one.
