Sludge and timing chain tensioner
So I bought a 2004 A41.8tq with a blown turbo... I replaced the turbo and thought all would be good to go... fired it up and let it idle.... it threw misfire codes so I replaced all 4 coils because they suck! and it threw a timing too far advanced code... I Also had the TB, tensioner, idler and wp replaced...figured ok good to go... no... so I have been doing alot of reading and here is what I think.... I believe that I have a sludge problem that is blocking the oil pickup tube and the cam chain tensioner isn't getting the proper oil pressure at idle and thus the cams are advancing...The car is not triggering a low oil pressure light because I believe the engine has to be above 2k RPM and the pressure has to be below 20 psi... from what I have read if the engine isnt above 2k it won't trigger regardless of pressure.... so thats my theory.. I am wondering if just replacing the oil pickup tube would solve the problem or if there would be some damage to the tensioner too.. .I dont get the code when I keep my rpms above 1k any suggestions would help! Thanks in advance guys!
