Default so, how slow is the V6? (searched)

I am definately going to be getting a b5 audi in the next few weeks, but I can't decide between the 1.8t and the 12v v6. Now I am partial to turbo's, my last two cars were both turbo cars (93 toyota mr2 and 98 eclipse gs-t) I was very happy with the performance I was getting with the eclipse (turbo upgrade, FMIC, 550cc injectors, 3" exhaust, lots of other stuff) and that car was QUICK! I don't expect either audi to be as quick as that car was in a straight line. What I want to know is, how much modding does it take to get the 1.8t the same performance as the v6? I know stock for stock, the v6 is quicker, but I couldn't find any information about how much modding it takes to bring the 1.8t to the same power level as the 6. Only reason I ask is because I don't plan on modding the turbo very much if I do get one (chip, exhaust, maybe the injectors) and if I got the v6 I would just leave it alone completely. I am not looking to spend thousands in modifications for the turbo unless I am getting SIGNIFICANTLY better performance than the v6. The main question, how much do you have to spend to get the 1.8t to the same power level as the v6? and how much more do you have to spend afterward to get SIGNIFICANT gains over the v6?

Well if you searched... you'd know that the 1.8T is in the same league as the 2.8 (30V) with the chip alone...

You want significant gains... define significant. The k04 upgrade is like 1700 bucks from ecs I think, and it is a substantial more power than the v6... and it includes programming, so skip stage 1 k03, and you'll only need to spend about 1200 more to go K04.

The K04 eliminators are due as well... and as the name suggests, offer even more power (at a premium $ over k04 upgrades, obviously)

why not go for the 30v v6, 190hp at 6000rpm and 207 ftlbs of torque at 3200rpm. But the 1.8t has great potential with mods. I dont kno much about the 1.8t's but im sure the 1.8 owners will be chimeing in soon enough.

haha, u called it, the only reason i love the 1.8 is because they dont make a turbo (in my travels) for the 2.8. im a turbo guy so, obvesouly id go for the 1.8.

however, in terms of engine performance, in the past like year or so, aftermarket companies have been makeing more parts fo the 2.8, due to the prevous rumor that the 2.8 has less mods...

so it could go either way, i guess

so, just the chip and I am in the same amount of power as the v6. The k04 seems the best option for me, if I can find a used one for 500-700 bucks. Since the k04 bolts right on no need for any other things exept DV, exhaust, chip, and I would suppose injectors right? so correct me if I am wrong, were talking hopefully under 2 grand for the used k04, exhaust, chip, and injectors. Will i need a fuel pump and/or a pressure regulator at this point? So where am I at now compared to the v6, I better be smoking it good!

here's another question, why is EVERY 1.8T quattro made on the east coast!! I mean, I can't find one on the west coast in my price range to save my life!!There are SO many good deals out there on the east coast for used, low mileage, unmodded 1.8tq b5's its giving me a heart attack!

I got my 1.8T with 47k on the west coast... shop around!

I also found a CPO 2001 A4 with 33k in my area, but it was out of my price range.

If you are in the Norcal SF Bay Area, check out Carlson Audi. Last I checked its still there.
Its black/black leather, quattro, manual
