ORIGINAL: sjoudeh98

so correct me if I am wrong, were talking hopefully under 2 grand for the used k04, exhaust, chip, and injectors. Will i need a fuel pump and/or a pressure regulator at this point? So where am I at now compared to the v6, I better be smoking it good!
injectors arnt nessessary, because the stock audi injectors can handle a fuel increase. if you get the chip installed on ur ecu, it will take care of the fuel delivery and turbo spool. you might want to thrown in a fmic kit, since your gettin a new turbo n all...

my only question is that if you were to install a chip before you got the k04 upgrade, would the chip need to be modified, or sent back to the company to be tqeaked to be compatable with the k04

everyone has large injector upgrades with ECU now GIAC, REVO, APR, thiers limits to stock injectors, they seem to go for the 225 TT injectors

theres a difference in the program for the K03 and K04, u will have to change the program to get the full potential of the K04

I would def go with the 1.8t, I have a 1.8t and my dads got a 2.8 30v and his car is amazingly boring to drive and slow as anything.

Of course the 2.8 is boring Tom. You're spinning close to 270 horses aren't you?

yea it might be boring to a guy that usually drives that kinda car. im in the same boat as sjoudeh98, deciding on which one would be best. what kinda mods can bring you up to equal the v6, but i dont want to go too in depth like an upgraded turbo, i need something more reliable, but still can be modded a little. hows the search goin sjoudeh? if you decide let me know why and stuff! thanks! good luck with the search.

1.8t chipped + exhaust will bring you up to the 3.0 level.

Haha, its rediculous how often this topic gets covered... but yes, thats true... chip alone will bring you to 2.8 30V level, and add an exhaust, and you'd be into 3.0 territory, like jest said (but the turbo'd car would make more torque, lots more)

If all you want to do is be EQUAL to a V6... then buy the v6. But if you'll EVER want to go any faster... buy the 1.8T, chip it... and you're at v6 territory until you get the urge for more... The V6 has advantages -- just not in the performance realm. It's smooth, reliable, quiet etc.

I'd go APR for a chip because they offer lifetime free reprogramming... so if you DO upgrade things down the road, you can keep sending it back to get it tuned again, for your new upgrade(s) -- the k04 for example.

Heh, the more time I spend on goapr.com the more I wanna get rid of teh TAP chip and get an APR.

how much less reliable is the 1.8t chipped exhuast intake than the 2.8 30v? and hows the gas milage differ roughly?
