Someone help me out please
OK, My friend Elise has a 1998 Audi A4 1.8T, it's this really nice green color, and i've wanted her car since she got it...
Well a turn of bad luck has resulted in the Audi being put in covered storage, she can't afford to fix it again. She told me that it needs a new motor (she doesn't know i'm thinking of buying her car), but the Audi dealership told her that it was going to cost something like 4k to fix her car. She told me that her turbo just wasn't kicking in, so I don't really know what is wrong with it, or if it even runs. But here is what I don't understand.
She took it to the same Audi dealership at 65k to have a new timing belt and water pump done, and they also (supposedly) rebuild the turbo, and did all new seals on everything. She has kept up the maintance, and it only has about 90k on it. Here is a picture of the color of the car, its the same minus the rims.
What should I expect to pay to have a motor (and turbo?) installed? Would I be better off just buying another A4 that runs?I really like the color of this one though...

You'll need to get more specifics about what is actually wrong with the car. If the turbo needs to be replaced you could do it in about 4-5 hours without taking it to a shop. A stock turbo can be bought on Ebay for pretty cheap. I have seen them for as little as $50 but most are a couple hundred. There could be many other reasons that the car is responding like the turbo isn't working. The bad turbo isn't really a big money issue if it is only the turbo that is bad. If some part of the turbo broke off and ended up in the engine, you will have other major problems. You can fix alot of stuff for $4000.
