So I purchased this 01 a4 18t from auction. Drive it home and no boost, smokes bad, and turbo is loud. For 3 weeks I am looking for turbos without ever putting on the lift and checking it. WOW it works much better when the tube coming off the turbo is hooked up!!!!! lol. And no more smoke.

 

Yeah, I'd say that would be a good thing to have connected! May I ask how much you payed? Specs on the car?

I payed $3000. the car is really clean. It just turned 120k. I am really happy with it but I still have some issues with it. I just purchased a crank sensor"Engine speed sensor". when the moter gets warm it cuts out. I cleaned the maf sensor and it runs better but still sets a maf voltage high code. There is something missing on top of the air filter box a couple of inches from the maf there is a clean spot with 4 screw holes. I looked at a pic on alldata and it looks electrice componet about 1.5" by 2". with 2 conectors on it but I dont find the conectors anywhere. I wonder if this is some kind of mod? I have a pic of the air box and will post it very soon. I will take a pic of the tube that was off tomorrow.
