I've had my 97 A4 for a couple years now. I've had my system from the previous car in it for a couple years minus a day. As everyone knows, on my front door, I found the slanted, 3 hole bolt pattern with the adapter plate for a small speaker. Anyway, I was able to jam my MB Quarts down into those holes , but since its offset from the door frame, it makes for terrible mid-bass. I just bi-amped the speakers and cranked up the woofers to make up for it, although it's still lacking. I found the link to nexxia from the beloved search, and I was wondering if anyone has actually bought the front door adapters for the A4? Does it still keep the speaker a half inch from the door panel? I don't want to go the kick-panel route, but I want the midbass to be there. I'm thinking a more secure fit to the door may also lower the amount of noise from vibration, which is bad despite the dynamat... Any feedback?

 

I ordered it from nexxia but i still have to get it. It should arrive any day now. When it does and i install it. I will let you know

immgeorge, what do you mean it offsets from the door frame? Is the speaker touching the door frame?

 

err, not door frame. thats my mistake. I meant door panel. There is a gap between the speaker and the door panel, and with that gap, the sound waves won't travel properly. The speaker should ideally be mounted flush with a surface to make for proper sound.

 

Oh OK. I understand now. I guess that's what the speaker adapters are for right? To mount the speaker flush with the door panel.
