ddd, if you don't mind me asking...how much was the shipping for the speaker adapters?

Don't remember how much they charged me for shipping but I think it was just a few bucks to have it shipped here to me in the phil. considering it's pretty light

For those with good diy skills, this is also a good way to go.

ORIGINAL: brrman

I have done this to both my 98.5 and my 2000 a4.

There is no gap - I got it so close there was just barely a little gap, but I put a small bead of silicone around the adapter, let it cure and then it formed a nice seal. The adapter took two or three prototypes before I got the fit I wanted.

I also cut down the screw posts that were on the panel so they did not hold the adapter so far away from the panel.

The Kickers were tough to get in there, some minor modification of the inner door frame edge had to be made, nothing that would ever be seen from within the cabin though. I currently have 5 1/4 Infinity Kappa Perfect in the front of the avant.

Here you can see the three posts for the screws (pre-cut off)

I finally got the speaker adapters, had it installed by a pro but to make sure he did the job right I supervised.
The installation is pretty easy, it only needed minor modifications to make it fit. It made the midbass alittle better but i was expecting better. Since its being powered by only my stock concert headunit, i guess to reach its full potential i may have to buy an amp to complement my basslink powered sub. right now, the sub overpowers the whole system.

Hope the pics help....

ddd, thank you for the pics. The install looks pretty easy.

I can't remember if the speakers you installed were a component set or not. If so, how was the tweeter installation?

it was a component set, the tweeter installation is pretty easy for as long as it fits, some tweeter housing are pretty big. the peerless definition 5 fits great. My first choice was a blaupunkt comp set but the tweets were to big so i went with the peerless instead......

just wondering, with the wire with the clip on it, did you all cut that tip off of it and strip the wires back and solder them up?

IF I remember correctly I didn't have to cut the wires with the clips cause in my case it fit just right in my new speakers so it was not a problem...
