Anyone have any idea as to the wattage I should get on those fronts? I'm gonna go with what trans is sayin and just get a pair of aftermarket replacements.

Try Dad's auto parts and see if they have a used speaker they can pull.

This info is printed in your Concert Sound System manual.

Standard:
80watts total for A4 sedan
80watts + 40watt(sub) A4 avant

Bose:
120W sedan
170W avant

These figures were taken from my 98.5 year model manual..they are probably different for your car.
If you can't find these figures else where..ask your local dealer..have your VIN number handy.

I never said you couldn't replace the rear speakers with something else. I said you couldn't do it with a Bose system and still have good sound balance. There is simply no speaker that can match the sound Bose speakers make. Now, Bose does not make the best speakers, but if you mess with one..be willing to mess with the entire system...you've been warned.

Agreed, Trans. The Bose system is very proprietary. Any changes to it will unbalance it and it will sound way below par. I ended up relacing everything.

You must have impedance matched speakers or else your speakers will be extremely susceptible to noise, I believe the current speakers are 4-ohm but im not positive. You'll hav eto check your car, checking the specifications on crutchfield will let you know what the impedance is.

this is a list of 4" tweeters from crutchfield
