I'm looking into buying a '97 a4 and the person keeps saying it is the 'sport package' what is the difference between the sport and the standard package? Or any other packages out there...

yes there are other packages out there..if you're planning on buying an A4, you need to do a little research before you jump into it...sport package is stiffer shocks, springs, and sway bars, bigger wheels, and a three-spoke steering wheel..the steering wheel is available separately, so just because it has a three spoke wheel doesn't mean it has the sport package..there's also a sound package, a cold weather package, a premium package...search the forums and you'll find all the info you need.

 

The Sport Package makes a significant difference in the way the car handles and rides. I have the sport package on my '99 and '01, and regular suspension on the '00. The wife likes the regular suspension because it's more "comfortable". For me, it's too squishy. If you are looking for a suspension tuned for spirited driving, get the Sport Package!

 

i also believe that the sport package comes with larger wheels than regular (mine came with 17's) and a minimal suspension drop (less than an inch).

 

I dont know about the older b5's, but the newer b5 sport's have red struts.. That and the wheels are the easiest way to tell-they are 16 inch.
